Woodville, the county seat of Tyler County, is a quiet community of about 3000 residents. As its name implies, the town sits nestled in the Piney Woods of Deep East Texas. As with Jasper, tourism is important to the community, as are various forest industries. The area lakes provide great fishing almost year-round. A prime attraction is the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation, only a few miles west of town. Several state and federal parks and campgrounds allow a variety of outdoor activities.
A special "outdoor activity" of Faith has traditionally been an Easter Sunrise service
jointly sponsored with St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jasper, held in
Martin Dies State Park,
at Dam B, on the shores of B. A. Steinhagen Lake. It is often one of the highlights of the year
for congregation members, area people, and visitors.
